Over the centuries, Alexandria has grown, and it held several significant landmarks in the Ancient world. No doubt you’ve heard of the Library of Alexandria, but it was also home to the Lighthouse of Alexandria and the Necropolis. While the Lighthouse of Alexandria and the Library of Alexandria didn’t survive past their ancient days, Alexandria is still famous for its history.
Nowadays, it’s become a popular tourist destination as it has a much more relaxed atmosphere when compared to Cairo. Alexandria is known for its arts and culture. While the Library of Alexandria may have burned down, it doesn’t mean the appreciation is gone. You can visit the ruins or Bibliotheca.

Algiers
Algiers is the capital of Algeria and the largest city in the country. It is located on the western side of the Mediterranean Sea and has an estimated population of 4.5 million.
Numerous buildings in the modern side of the city are built on level ground that lays past the shore, while the ancient city lies behind a steep hill that the Casbah crowns.
The Casbah is one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites, and it’s a recommended trip, especially if you have a guide with you. There are so many renovated spaces around the medina, but it’s always best to travel with someone who knows the area well and reputable tour operators. Overall, Algiers is a reasonably safe place to travel around during the day, but not so much later at night.
Unfortunately, in the 90s, Algiers was an area targeted for political demonstrations. Since then, it’s still been a site at risk for terrorist activities, as several groups are still operating around the country. In spite of that, Algiers is still a beautiful city to visit and one of the most significant trading hubs in Africa.
While Algiers may seem dangerous, you can still safely explore the city if you take the necessary safety precautions.
Rome
Rome is one of the most beautiful cities in Italy, one of the most populated cities in the European Union and on the Mediterranean. It may surprise you that the Metropolitan City of Rome is distinct from Rome itself. The metropolis is the home of an estimated 4.3 million people, covering several capital districts.
Rome is home to a history of vibrant culture, even having its own independent country: Vatican City, inside the city boundaries. The city is the Vatican’s headquarters and the Catholic Church’s home. Due to this, it is regarded as the cradle of Western civilization and Christian culture.
You can find centuries of history in Rome, which is why it’s also referred to as the Eternal City. It has a physical record of its diverse periods, but it all merges to create Rome as it is today.
Throughout history, the architecture of the Romans has been regarded as some of the best. So many people go to the Colosseum, the Pantheon, and the largest amphitheater in the world. Of course, these are only a few different sights you can find in Rome.
Rome is not only home to history and architecture, but Italian cuisine is highly recommended worldwide. There are a variety of pasta dishes and pizzas to try, so make sure you don’t forget to try out these delicious dishes while exploring the distinct architecture of Rome.
